Help for Women’s vision is to give women and children a fair chance at life.

Our goal is to reach the outskirts of Ghana and, eventually the rest of Africa, responding to the needs of people by providing for their most basic necessities. In doing so, we aim to become the support system that is often missing due to limited government resources.

That’s why we focus on building strong, self-sustaining communities. By providing access to education, job opportunities, clean water, recreation, and more, we strive to revive neglected areas and create lasting systems of support where they are most needed.

Although Help for Women was founded in 2012, the organization received a new look and leadership in 2021. With a renewed mission, we are committed to making an even greater impact and continuing the work that Sandra Koomen began.

Today, we are a growing organization with four board members, four dedicated volunteers, and over ten staff members in Ghana. We also welcome students and individuals for internships and mission trips.

We operate under the belief that when you educate a woman, you educate a nation and when you educate a child, you empower generations.

Help for Women is now based in Haarlem, The Netherlands and in Gomoa Fetteh, Ghana.
